Role
The Role of the Directorate of Regional Integration is to support Lesotho’s economic and social
development through facilitating the process of integration into the Southern African Development
Community and the Southern African Customs Union.
The Functions of the Directorate of regional Integration are:

Coordinate the alignment between national strategic development
plans and the regional integration frameworks

Monitor, evaluate and report on the process of regional integration,
including the implementation of the regional development framework and
compliance with regional legislation.

Act as an interface between government and national agencies and the respective
mandated regional integration bodies (SADC Secretariat, SACU Secretariat)

Foster understanding and ownership of the regional integration process and the SADC
development framework across government, private sector and civil
society in general

Review Development Partner policies on regional integration to identify areas where Lesotho
could benefit from resources allocated to regional integration
and advise the relevant Government, private sector agencies accordingly
