To contribute towards sustainable economic growth, poverty reduction and development, through coordination of national development priorities, monitoring implementation at difference levels of governance and informing optimal resources mobilization, allocation and utilisation.

Functions

The Department of Development Planning (DDP) is responsible for annual operational planning, annual programme monitoring, conducting or coordinating feasibility studies on behalf of line ministries, conducting programme and project appraisals, providing oversight over government programmes, coordinating national development plans, including the National Vision 2020, poverty reduction strategies, setting up and operating a national monitoring and evaluation system, undertaking, together with relevant departments, cost analysis of spending and project proposals, aid coordination, and planning cadre management.
