Mission
To ensure the creation of a conducive environment for the
private sector and the public at large to operate, through
the provision of the effective financial sector policy
advice, proper management of public assets and liabilities,
and best practices in procurement processes.
Functions
The department
links the Ministry with the Private sector and coordinates
government’s financial sector policies together with other
key stakeholders. Its functions include private sector
development functions; coordinating financial sector schemes
such as pensions, insurance and assurance, vehicle, medical
aid schemes, property management, government employee
benefit schemes, national housing finance, and capital
markets; performance monitoring of special funds,
parastatals and privatised companies; promotion of public
private partnerships in government procurement; and money
laundering. The department also manages government assets
and liabilities including asset control and disposal, loss
recovery, GOL Purchasing and Supplies, GOL transport
management, Procurement/Secretariat to CTB, procurement
cadre management, and facilities management as well as
management of public debt. |
