A highly effective professional department that collects revenues, makes payments, produces period financial and management accounts, and safekeeping of public assets, and custodian of good public financial management through practice of sound financial management and compliance to laid down rules and regulations by all Government of Lesotho ministries departments, and timely production of annual public accounts

Functions

The Treasury undertakes the traditional treasury functions including, but not limited to periodic and annual financial accounting, monthly financial and management accounts, production of timely and accurate financial information for government, regular monitoring of financial operations of special functions, efficient cash management, recording and accounting of government’s assets and liabilities using best case approaches, and effective management of the accounting cadre in the public service. The department also coordinates financial reporting by local government structures.
