The Government of Lesotho has received financing from the World Bank towards the cost of the Preparation Phase Facility for Phase II of Water Sector Improvement Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for Consultant services for the Establishment of Aquatic Monitoring System and Environmental Flow Guidelines and Procedures. The purpose of the assignment is to establish a comprehensive aquatic bio-monitoring system and facilitate the development of capacity within the Government of Lesotho to facilitate collection of the additional data required to improve the process of informing the environmental flow requirements of the Metolong Dam. The monitoring programme will provide for the establishment of a baseline data set and allow for continued routine monitoring that will inform broad principles and procedures for the definition of a refined IFR. The effort needed is three staff months within a period of 6 months.

The Ministry of Natural Resources now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc).

Consultants will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (Revised October 2006).

An Expression of Interest in a SEALED ENVELOPE LABELLED “Establishment of Aquatic Monitoring System and Environmental Flow Guidelines and Procedures” with the NAME AND ADDRESS OF THE FIRM ON THE REVERSE SIDE must be submitted at the physical address below by the 2nd March 2009, 14:00hrs.
